Basic Python Threading

In a fairly recent article post, I called out for some testing with the new version of Mythbuntu Log Grabber.
On a similar note, i would like to share a bit of python knowledge gained in the venture of building the new version.
As many will tell you, the Threading module in Python is usually not one to just go diving into for many reasons (none of which I have plans to go into here). However with a little know how (and allot of documentation) I was able to make things work quite well.

New Year, New Site

Just wanted to give a quick update, my small business site has gone through a complete rebuild over the last 24 hours or so with the goal of getting the pre-configured Mythbuntu based systems out the door (finally).

After much request and much delay while waiting for code enhancements and building some of my own, the systems are to the point where I am comfortable shipping them to end users. This will be a great new venture and hope to provide a great DVR at a great price.

Call for Testing

This is a short a sweet one, I have uploaded a build of MythTV, libvdpau, and nvidia-glx-190 (190.53) to my personal PPA.. This build is simply to verify MythTV works as expected when built against the latest libvdpau.

The Mythbuntu team and I would appricaitate some testing and reporting results back to the mailing list with your results.

Mythbuntu Log Grabber

Recently I completed work on the latest version of Mythbuntu Log Grabber. Mythbuntu Log Grabber was built originally to provide an easy to gather diagnostic data for users that don't know exactly what to provide. After a few releases in the wild and some minor bugs I decided to covert it to a Mythbuntu Control Centre plugin and give it some upgrades.

A few quick features:

  • Built-in pastebin posting removing the dependency on pastebinit
  • Selection of which logs to post
  • Full log posting
